Mazda recently announced the addition of the 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D to the available line of engines for the CX-5 SUV, for the Signature 2019 version.
The 2019 CX-5 Signature, which will be available at Mazda 2-20 Ile-Perrot a little later this year, will be equipped with an all-wheel drive system and a 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine.
The 2.2-liter Skyactiv-D engine delivers 168 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm, with an estimated fuel efficiency of 8.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.9 liters per 100 km on the road or 8.5 liters per 100 km on average.
A sequential twin turbocharger realizes smooth and linear response from low to high engine speeds, and greatly increases low- and high-end torque.
Premium driving experience
The Skyactiv-D 2.2-litre engine adopts special combustion control software and exhaust treatment to meet the strictest emissions regulations, yet preserves the excellent response and easy-revving feel for which Mazda's Skyactiv diesel engines are renowned.
The addition of the Skyactiv-D 2.2 expands the engine lineup for the 2019 CX-5, which already includes the Skyactiv-G 2.5 turbo and Skyactiv-G 2.5 with Cylinder Deactivation. This provides Mazda fans another option to enjoy the popular compact crossover and addresses the strong demand for a diesel engine that offers a premium driving experience.
