On September 22nd, hundreds of parents from École Harwood took part in the Community Test Drive activity, a Mazda Canada program that the Mazda 2-20 team was proud to implement in Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
As part of this day, parents of students were invited to ride for free in a Mazda vehicle, for a good cause. For each test drive, $ 20 was donated to the school. The Mazda 2-20 team set the ambitious goal of completing 250 trials, generating $ 5,000.
The day was a great success thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the participation of parents. In the end, $ 4680 was raised thanks to 234 road tests. The funds will finance the training of teachers and students who participate in circus activities.
Thoses activities allows students to take part in the Festi-Cirque, with the rest of the school board.
About Festi-Cirque
The Festi-Cirque is a major event throughout the Commission scolaire des Trois-Lacs. For the 2018-2019 school year, 11 schools are participating, including Harwood School. In total, there are more than 700 students, mainly in grades 5 and 6, and 100 to 150 teachers who are involved in this program.
Throughout the school year, participants in the Festi-Cirque develop their skills in one of the many disciplines, ranging from juggling to unicycle, through trapeze, aerial fabric, Cyr wheel and more. The commitment of young people to their training encourages them to value healthy lifestyles and discipline, as well as to enable them to achieve and surpass themselves. In the spring, each school presents a show at the Théâtre Paul-Émile-Meloche, in front of hundreds of guests.
The Mazda 2-20 team is proud to have had the opportunity to contribute to this rewarding activity for Harwood School youth.
