On January 31st, Mazda Canada unveiled the future 2024 CX-90, which will be the very first vehicle offered in a plug-in hybrid version of the brand. This three-row SUV built on Mazda's all-new large platform will be wider, longer and more aggressive than any other Mazda vehicle.
Several versions offered
Indeed, the CX-90 will be the first Mazda vehicle to be available in a plug-in hybrid version. This SUV will be equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 187 horsepower paired with a 100 kW electric motor with a power of 134 horsepower. To top it off, a new eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is added to the SUV. As for its towing capacity, it is 5,000 pounds.
The CX-90 is also offered in a semi-hybrid version with two engine choices including a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 280 horsepower and develops 332 lb-ft of torque and a new 340 horsepower straight-six engine that develops 369 lb-ft of torque.
i-Activ All-Wheel Drive
Note that i-Activ all-wheel drive is standard for the 2024 CX-90. Designed to improve vehicle performance and increase driver confidence, this system anticipates changes in terrain and transfers power to the appropriate wheel, in order to get a flawless drive.
A dynamic design
The 2024 CX-90 is indeed longer, wider and more aggressive than other Mazda SUVs while respecting harmonious proportions! A new color is also making an appearance: Craftsman Red. Mazda developed this pigment to accentuate the curves of the CX-90 and to provide a brighter shine to the exterior paint.
A spacious interior
The interior of the CX-90 offers a clean, modern design with maple wood trim, brushed metal details, Kakenui stitching and optional Nappa leather seats. The 12.3-inch central screen, which is located above the dashboard, is touch-sensitive and includes Apple Car Play, as well as Android Auto.
