Mazda: Most Reliable Brand According to Consumer Reports

Mazda stands out for its reliability, finishing first in the annual survey conducted by independent organization Consumer Reports.

A rigorous and independent approach allows the publication each year of the list of the most reliable manufacturers by the organization Consumer Reports. Data from over 300,000 sources is analyzed to determine a reliability score for each model from the year 2000 to 2020.

This year, the Mazda banner finishes first on the list, with an enviable average score of 83. It is 9 points ahead of the second place banner; Toyota.

The MX-5 is the most reliable Mazda model, with an almost perfect score of 98. It is closely followed by the recent CX-30 (95), the CX-3 (87) and the CX-5 ( 85).

The overall reliability score of a model also includes the performance of road tests, the results of the owner satisfaction survey, whether the model comes with state-of-the-art safety systems and crash-test data, if applicable.

Consumer Reports attributed Mazda's success to a market-tailored strategy that did not introduce "new powertrains and infotainment systems that are risky for the consumer."
